In 2009, I wrote,
The longer America delays, the stronger Iran and its allies grow, and the more Americans will be murdered by this axis of evil.
Even a rat fights when cornered. But a man of reason and courage does not wait until his loved ones have been murdered and his own survival hangs by a thread. He fights well before it is almost too late.
For thousands of Americans and thousands of Israelis murdered by the Iranian regime, it is too late. For thousands of freedom-loving Iranians murdered by the regime—Iranians who would have been our allies now when we need them—it is too late.
For the rest of us, destroying the Iranian regime is far more dangerous than it would have been in the 1990s, when America was known as the world’s lone superpower, and before America began un-winning the first Cold War. Not only is Iran itself more dangerous now, but its co-conspirators—China, Russia, and North Korea—are far more dangerous now. But it is probably not too late for us to prevail.
This time, we must not use half-measures. We must not employ suicidal rules of engagement. We must not stop before the job is finished. We must not negotiate. We must destroy the Iranian regime.
And what then? It is reasonable to allow pro-freedom Iranians the chance to install a pro-freedom—and therefore non-threatening—government. It is reasonable for us to support that effort. But we need a plan in case that effort fails.
That plan must include the seizure or destruction of Iran’s ill-gotten oil wealth. Without that wealth, Iran might remain barbaric, but will no longer be a significant threat to America. Secondarily, that oil will no longer go to China and other enemies of America.
Fortunately, there is a straightforward way to implement this plan: Seize or destroy the Kharg Island Terminal.
Some members of Congress, such as Thomas Massie, oppose war against Iran and argue that it is Congress that has the constitutional authority to declare war. I am reminded of a scene from Ninety-Three by Victor Hugo: In the same ceremony, a character is given a medal for heroically fighting to solve a problem, and then immediately shot for having caused the problem in the first place. Yes, Congress should declare war. In reason, you should sponsor a bill to do so.
I am an atheist, but I love the sentiment of the expression, “God Bless.” God Bless America. God Bless brave Americans who are fighting to preserve our freedom.

All I can say is, right on, Ron.
Kharg Island is to the Iranian regime roughly what the Treasury bond market is to the U.S. government — the single most important mechanism for funding its operations. Taking it out is an existential economic blow.
Indeed!
The real problem is not just Iran but is also the moral and intellectual deterioration, and in some cases, complete collapse, of a large segment of the American people who are leftists. The left is now fully nihilist. That is, they reject all facts which clash with their ideology and all values, honesty, competence, integrity, beauty, excellence, etc. Therefore you cannot appeal to them based on facts or reason. Yes, we should have declared war on, and destroyed the regime of, Iran a long time ago but which Congress would have passed such a resolution? Fighting for freedom sometimes cannot be done by voting. For example, as I understand the American Revolution, there was no majority in favor of it. Yet as we look back on it, it was probably the most important and valuable single event in human political history.
