  1. Exactly. In fact, it is probably much worse because the antibiotic may have already done its job but this pause in the war is absolutely certain to allow the fanatics running Iran to rebuild and restructure while per Islamic doctrine, lying to those with whom they are ‘negotiating’. To be clear, I voted for Trump 3 times but he makes errors and this ‘pause’ is a serious mistake on his part.

  2. Great analogy. Trump has a different idea. He is clearly (to me) hoping that a campaign of increasing multi-lateral pressure – on the mullahs, on our “allies,” on the GCC states, and on the Iranian population – will lead to a meaningful change in the Iranian government’s personnel and policies, aka regime change. Will it work? The devil is in the details, to which I am not privy, so I am choosing to trust the president on this one.

  3. You make a great point about how a pause could allow the Iranian government to regroup. But what if this pause is part of a longer-term strategy? Could the hope be that increased pressure will force change from within, even if it takes time?
