I Did the Most Important Thing

There are important things in life that I have achieved, and there are important things in life that I may never achieve. “Regrets, I’ve had a few.” But I have achieved the most important thing to me, the thing I have spent more of my life on than anything else. I have achieved blissful breathing as my normal, readily-accessible state.

For the history of my unrelenting, 40-year pursuit of blissful breathing, please see my 2021 blog post entitled “Breathe.” But mere writing on the subject of blissful breathing might seem somewhat woo-woo to the uninitiated. Here then is video of me experiencing blissful breathing in the company of renowned breathing teacher, yoga teacher, and bodyworker Leslie Kaminoff.

This session was recorded during the recent six-day celebration of my 70th birthday. The celebration—informally dubbed RonCon—included extraordinary music and dance performances, a dinner party attended by more than 90 friends, museum visits (including a private viewing of works by Rembrandt), scenic and cultural tours, intellectual conversations late into the night, and presentations by attendees of their work.

Now that the RonCon attendees have gone home, I would be sad—except for the fact that they are already planning to make RonCon an annual event.

In other news, regarding the second most important thing I have done (a new epistemology), the weekly reading group for my book A Validation of Knowledge is up to Chapter 10 (the concluding chapter), after 20 intellectually stimulating sessions.

And now, in addition to my current work in artificial intelligence, I am working on my third most important thing: a new theory of ethics.
